Dear Roseway,
In your letter to me of the 30th October about
the printing of correspondence relating to Colonial
Military Contributions, you ask me to let you have a
set of the bound Straits correspondence when the volume
is made up. We shall probably be closing the present
at the end of the calendar year
series Eastern 150 -
G
and will let you have a copy in due course when available.
It will contain, of course, the same papers as the loose
proofs we sent you over in August, plus a few subsequent
papers we are having printed shortly.
I find that no Straits correspondence has been
printed between 1912 and the present series (Eastern 150)
which as you say begins in 1928.
If you decide to print
any of the correspondence between 1912 and 1928 we should
be grateful if you would send us copies.
No correspondence relating to the military
contributions of other colonies than Straits appears
to have been printed since 1912. We are at the
moment considering the question of printing recent Hong
Kong and Mauritius papers for inclusion in Eastern 150,
and will let you know further as to this.
If you decide to print any of the correspond ence
relating to the Defence Contributions of any of the
Colonies, it would be a convenience to us if you would
let us have copies.
Perhaps you would let me know if
there would be any objection?
Yours sincerely,
(Sgd.) G.E.J. Gent.
